Hotels
There are many hotels in Amersfoort, but here are a few that are really close to the Warpstock venue:
- Mercure hotel literally around the corner.
- NH Hotels next to the train station.
Cheaper alternatives:
- Hotel Long Jonn's in the city center; about 15 minutes walk to the conference center.
- Hotel Pension Randenbroek just outside the city center and about 20 minutes walking.
But there are many alternatives, bed & breakfasts, AirBnB, etc. Also check out this map of the area.
Travel
By train
We recommend you come by public transport as the venue is only 5 minutes away from Amersfoort Central station. Amersfoort is well-connected to the rest of the Netherlands; there are direct trains from Amsterdam, Schiphol Airport, Utrecht, The Hague, Rotterdam, Zwolle, Leeuwarden, Groningen, Apeldoorn, Deventer, Enschede. The IC Berlin-Amsterdam makes a stop in Amersfoort.
For people coming from the Ruhr area or Frankfurt, take the ICE to Amsterdam and change over at Utrecht (note: may not call at Duisburg that weekend, check www.bahn.de).
To the best of our knowledge no maintenance works are scheduled in and around Amersfoort for the Warpstock weekend but this can of course change. Always check the Dutch railroad site before you leave.
By car
If you must come by car, there are some places north-west of the venue where there is free parking but the streets are narrow and probably very crowded in the weekends. Most of the other streets are for permit holders only. There are a few parking garages in the area (check the map).
Intercontinental
Travelers from across the Atlantic can fly to Schiphol Airport or Frankfurt International Airport. Schiphol is by far the easiest as there are direct train connections from Schiphol to Amersfoort (the train station is below the airport). A trip takes 40 minutes and runs every 30 minutes all day long. Tickets can be bought at www.ns.nl.
From Frankfurt Airport there are multiple ways to get to Amersfoort, but the easiest is to take the ICE to Amsterdam and change over at Utrecht. This trip takes a little over 4 hours and runs every 2 hours. Book your ticket at www.bahn.de.
